pumpkins and such

This week we finally got our pumpkin and carved him.
Naturally we partied with Zane and Lindsey at the same time.

All done!
I don't blame him, that witch is scary.
Our front door is under the stairs, so the space for a pumpkin is limited and very hidden.
So...here he sits.

We also went to the Haunted Mill
I hadn't been in a very long time and they've definitely
amped up the "scary-ness" and made it longer (woah).

I was very impressed.
Even the boys were shakin' in their boots.

Last weekend one of my best friends (and old roomies) Haley came to visit!

They came down for just a few days so we wasted no time and got right to the fun.

Friday we planned a Halloween costume party in Alyssa and Ben's garage. It was the perfect
place for a big group and Alyssa did so amazing with the decor.

I made these caramel apples which were somewhat of a disaster at first.
After many failed tries however, I finally got the hang of it.

We were excited for an excuse to get dressed up this year. Thanks hubby for being a man and
wearing tights (I guess my superman face is a smirk?).

I don't know why I didn't get a picture of Haley's little family
(I'll have to steal one from her) But look how cute they are! Peter Pan, Wendy,
and a lost boy.Loved it.

Brooks liked hangin' over the side. He was quite the party animal.

The rest of the weekend we made a crepe breakfast, went out to dinner and of
course...played with the babies. It's always too short when we all get together,
but the time was well spent!

fall is here

Today we woke up to clouds and sprinkling rain. For the past few weeks I haven't been
excited to greet the new season, but this morning was different. The bright leaves and smell
of rain won me over. I'm ready (and very excited) for Fall.

I decided to make a list of a few things we want to do before Winter rolls in.

1. Buy an autumn candle.

2. Make apple cider and anything pumpkin.

3. Go to a corn maze or haunted house.

4. Start our Halloween costumes.

5. Pick and carve pumpkins.

6. Curl up with blankets, hot chocolate, popcorn,
and my boy to watch a good movie.

(maybe Harry Potter marathon?)

7. Make cornbread and try new soup recipes.

Steve painted my toes the other day.

I came into the living room, nail polish in-hand, and was shocked to hear:

"oh, I want to do it!" My response (with obvious hesitation), "uh, why?"
His answer, "because that's what cute husbands do."

How could I say no to that?

This weekend Steve and I were both recovering from a long week of being sick and
overly busy. So we were glad to have a weekend full of  General Conference.
Most conference weekends we travel to Utah to see family but this time we decided to
lay low and regain some energy.

This morning we made cinnamon rolls to eat while we watch  (an old family tradition,
I'm sure many of you have).

I wish I could say they were homemade, but these definitely were not. That'll be my goal
for next year once school is out of the way.

On another note: I really enjoyed listening to conference this year. Steve and I have
a lot of big decisions and major changes coming up and most of the time it scares me.
So it's nice to be reminded that we're not doing this alone and life is so good.

camping trip #2

Before I thought all the summer hype was over we got an invite from our friends Zane and
Lindsey to experience the outdoors in Montana. (Zane's home state) We figured we'd go
before school got too busy and the weather got too cold. I was happy to hang onto summer
a little longer. We took off Friday after class and set-up camp lakeside.

It was a great spot and Steve quickly found a stick to whittle and fight the bears with?

The next day we had no solid plans, which I loved, so we hiked around the 

lake, fished here and there and got a lot of fresh air. It was chilly but refreshing. 

Zane and Lindsey

This is Zane's hot dog station. Very precisely put together.

It got pretty cold that night so we stayed by the fire roasting marshmallows, playing
games, and laughing for hours. Nothing beats good company and yummy food.

Thanks Zane and Lindsey for being the coolest people ever and making 

this trip such a blast. We love you so very much.
