This year we spent Christmas with Steve's family.
It was a little more quiet than I'm used to but we had a great time.
Here's a little peek:
Later that day we got to talk to my brother who's serving a mission in Washington DC.
It was so great to hear his voice and catch up. We both really miss him but he sounded
great and is loving his time there.
The day after Christmas we headed out to a little bavarian town in Washington called
Leavenworth (heard of it? Yeah, me either) But it's now one of my favorite winter
getaways. Every street is lined with little German shops of pretty trinkets and
Christmas food.

It sits up in the mountains so in the Winter it's always snowy.
Plus, every shop's name was written in an oldstyle font (just like a story book).
We spent two days walking the town, eating German food, and skipping
through our winter wonderland. I was in heaven with all the Christmas spirit.
We ate at a really popular hot dog stand with huge brats and sausages.
Half the menu was different beer flavors. Apparently here it goes with everything.
Pastry shops on every corner! This one was my favorite with the pretzel tree.
That night we hung around main street and watched little kids sled down the hill.
They had Christmas music playing and lights everywhere! It felt so magical.
It was freezing! But we couldn't help sticking around as long as possible. We took off the
next morning with lots of pastries and a few holiday souvenirs. It was the perfect way to
get over any "after Christmas blues."
Thanks Scott and Kandy for a great trip!

Okay, where is this place?! I am making Cooper take me there someday- it looks like something from a storybook!
ReplyDeleteHow perfect that you were able to spend Christmas with Steve's family :) yet talk with Bryce! Hope he's doing fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteAll of the pictures of Leavenworth are gorgeous! How 'bout we take a couple's trip there one winter!!...we'd kind of get to travel abroad together, without the passports ;) So glad you & Steve had a sweet time there :)
ditto sweet cousin, now I have another wonderful blog to read at work... :) don't tell my boss.
ReplyDeletealso.... i noticed that you and i have some blogs in common... weird huh?
(the daybook and nienie)... no big.
Ahhh im so jealous! I went to Leavenworth suring the summer with my family a long time ago, but Dave & I had a trip planned to Leavenworth 2 Christmases ago because it was on HGTV's top 10 christmas towns! There was a big snow storm and all the roads were closed to get up there :( I was so bummed! It looks soo cute!! Now that we've moved who knows if we'll ever make it up there, not exactly "driving distance". Im so glad you got to see it, and it sounds just as magical as I imagined!!! Cute pictures! And I think I have your boots! Love them :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it! It's so cute, it looks like you walked onto the streets of Europe :)

Leavenworth is amazing! My parents go every year for the Winter kick off thing they have at the beginning of September. My first time going was in October for Oktoberfest where I didn't drink, I swear, my mom, sister in law, and I ran the half marathon and my brother ran the full marathon. Amazing place! Glad you found it as well!!
ReplyDeleteKim
